Since 6 April 2020, Section 1 written statements have applied to both employees and workers from day one
This is the legal entity issuing the statement
The address of the employer's registered office or main place of business
Full name and home address of the employee or worker
The job title and a brief description of duties
Is the role permanent or fixed-term?
Employment start date and continuous service start date
Is there a probationary period? If yes, how long?
How much is paid and how often
Working pattern and weekly hours
Annual leave days and how bank holidays are treated
Where the employee will work
How much notice each side must give
A required Section 1 particular under s.1(4)(j) ERA 1996 (added 6 April 2020)
List any contractual benefits provided in addition to pay
The employer's pension scheme
Employers may postpone auto-enrolment by up to 3 months from the start date (Pensions Act 2008). A written postponement notice must be issued to the employee within 6 weeks. During postponement the employee may still opt in.
